Classy Closet’s Tips: Decorating Your Bookshelves

Ok, ok- let’s talk more about libraries, books, bookshelves and comfy couches! You don’t have to twist our arm! We aren’t done talking about them yet, either.

After our last blog post about libraries and bookshelves- we’ve been collecting new ideas and dreaming about creating some unique Classy Closet’s libraries. The possibilities are endless and we absolutely love some of the creative and beautiful ideas we have seen for decorating your bookshelves.

Here is a list of some of our favorite ideas:

*Add a different color to the walls behind your bookshelf. This helps to deepen and enrich the colors in the room and to bring out your bookshelf- making it even more noticeable. (Image via rightupmy-alley.blogspot.com)

 

 

*Add personal touches by incoporating family heirlooms, pictures, favorite decor and more. A book shelf will have more visual interest if it is not lined completely with books. (Image via Lonny Mag)

How Classy Closets Can Help Update Your Laundry Room

We spend a lot of time in our laundry rooms, so it’s important that we actually like to be in there. There are a lot of things that you can do in order to make your laundry room a more enjoyable space.  Below is a list of ideas that can help you when trying to transform your laundry room from drab to fab:

-In order to keep your laundry room feeling light and airy, keep cabinets and countertops a lighter color- especially if there is a limited amount of light and/or windows.

-Accentuate your laundry room with a beautiful and unique light fixture.

-Keep attractive storage bins, like wicker-baskets or cloth tots, in your laundry room to store un-matched socks and other laundry room knick-knacks. This will clear your laundry room of clutter and make you feel calm and peaceful when you go in your laundry room.

-Accentuate with a colorful rug that you love.

-Install hooks in your laundry cabinetry so that you can hang towels, coats, shirts and other items that usually wind up on the laundry room floor.

-Decorate with pops of colors that make you feel happy and energetic.

-If you have a large space- dedicate the room to a hobby or craft zone so that you can enjoy yourself and keep laundry going between projects.

-Utilize your space with as much cabinet storage as possible in order to keep your room uncluttered and clean looking.

-Hang pictures in your laundry room that will make you feel happy.

-Put fresh flowers on your countertops.

Classy Closet’s Thursday Pinterest Pick

We can’t be the only ones to love Pinterest, right?! Chances are you have a lot of boards that look similar to ours: dream house, dream closet, closets for kids, organizing tips, holiday decor, etc. Pinterest is a design-lovers dream and we receive a lot of inspiration from the rich colors, elegant designs, and modern trends on Pinterest. That’s why we are introducing the Classy Closet’s Thursday Pinterest Pick. Each Thursday we will be talking about our favorite Pinterest pin of the week. We want to share the design love- and what’s not to love about that?!

Utilizing Space in Your Home to Create More Storage

It can be an obstacle to find enough storage space in a home. It seems that we can never find enough space to combat the ever-growing amount of stuff we need to store. Ideally we would all have homes with endless amounts of storage space, but that’s a tall order. Increasingly, instead of moving to larger homes or adding additions to their homes people are finding ways to utilize the space they have.

Additional storage can be created wherever there is unused space, no matter how unique the size or shape. Walk around your house and take notice of wall space that is unused, small or large nooks that are currently not being utilized, or any other space that is currently being used as storage but could be organized better.

There are endless ways to increase your storage space and create unique and beautiful solutions for your home. Some examples include:

 

 

Look up! Try and find additional space above you where you could build shelves or other types of storage units. Most homes do not have anything placed above eye-level. This leaves a lot of unused storage space.

 

 

-Look for nooks and crannies that could house storage solutions: under your stairs, around walls, in window seats, etc. Classy Closet’s custom storage solutions can be made to fit into any area. Utilizing the unique shapes of your home can give you more storage.
